Making Waves is an educational youth radio initiative that empowers young people to share their true stories. The program guides teenagers through the process of creating radio journalism pieces by building their skills in writing, interviewing, editing and voicing. In the spirit of programs like Radio Rookies and NPR Youth Radio, Making Waves provides students with a forum to share perspectives that are relevant to the community at large.
"Hearing a story from someone who you thought was very different from you and recognizing a little bit of yourself in that person has tremendous potential to build bridges of understanding between people. And hopefully, someday, to move the needle on helping us recognize the power and grace and beauty in the stories we find all around us – when we take the time to listen." –Dave Isay, StoryCorps founder
