Week 4: KBIA Tour

We missed our normal meeting last week because Rock Bridge hosted its first student-led youth feminism conference and all our students attended! Delaney's story focuses on youth feminism initiatives, so her experience at the conference will be invaluable to her story specifically (although she didn't have a marantz yet, which is a bummer).

To make up for our missed meeting, we took a field trip to KBIA on Tuesday so the students could see where they would be voicing their stories. Since Jesse Hall (KBIA's former home) is being renovated, the newsroom is now in an old classroom with makeshift production booths. It's not exactly glamourous, but honestly it doesn't look that much different from the attic of Jesse. #publicradioproblems

The students enjoyed the newsroom tour, and after the tour they sat down to continue developing their stories. They're coming together! While we're still working on narrowing down our "one sentence summaries," everyone has a solid idea of where they want to go. Their only problem is that they have too many great ideas! It's hard to fit all that greatness into a 3 minute story.
